The Redefiners Writing Challenge 2025

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         The Redefiners Writing Challenge (RWC) is a creative initiative designed to empower young Nigerians through writing. This program aims to identify, harness, and showcase their writing talent, building confidence and improving communication skills. Participants will gain a deeper appreciation for literature and be inspired to use their words for meaningful purposes. Early engagement in writing helps children discover their voice, building a strong foundation for becoming impactful future leaders.

THEME

The 2025 Redefiners Writing Challenge features the thought-provoking theme, 'Changing My World'. This theme encourages young participants to consider how they can contribute to making the world a better place.

AGE RANGE

The Redefiners Writing Challenge 2025 is open to young writers aged 12 to 17 years old.

PRIZES AND RECOGNITION

The Redefiners Writing Challenge offers exciting prizes and opportunities for participants:

  •  The first, second, and third place winners will receive ₦30,000, ₦20,000, and ₦10,000 respectively.
  • The top 20 stories will be featured in the 2025 Redefiners Writing Challenge Collection of Stories, which will be published as an eBook. 
  • Finalists will gain exclusive access to an online creative writing masterclass and an interactive session with authors and literacy leaders.

 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Please ensure your submission adheres to the following rules:

  • Authors must be between 12 and 17 years old as of 31st August, 2025. Submission of birth certificates is required for age verification.

  • All entries must be submitted by 15th August, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Participants must be Nigerian citizens, regardless of their current location in the world.
  • Only entries that follow all specified guidelines will be considered.

 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Please ensure your entry meets the following criteria:

  • Submissions must be flash fiction stories, with a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 900 words.
  • Stories must to be original, not generated using AI, previously unpublished, and must interpret the theme, ‘Changing My World,’ accurately.
  • Participants should choose unique titles for their stories, distinct from the challenge theme.
  • Only one submission will be accepted per participant.
  • Entries should be pasted directly into the designated column on the submission form.
  • To complete your submission, please fill in your details here, pay the ₦1,000 entry fee here, and email a copy of your birth certificate (in JPEG or GIF format) to redefinersphgmail.com.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS AND CLOSING EVENTS

  • The long list, comprising of top 20 authors and their story titles, will be published by 25th August, 2025.
  • An interactive session which would include a creative writing masterclass and the announcement of winners, will be held on the 31st of August, 2025.

  Omonefe Oisedebamen Eruotor (Event Founder and Organizer)Omonefe is a passionate literacy advocate, administrator, author, and development specialist. She is dedicated to inspiring positive change and creating a healthier future for younger generations, with a particular focus on nurturing tomorrow's leaders. She orchestrates engaging creative events designed to reignite a love for reading in children, empowering them to become exceptional leaders. She is the accomplished author of A Mile in Her Shoes, Worth Giving Up, and Futility.


Tesiri Moweta (Judge)

Tesiri is an accomplished English/Literature graduate and a published author. She's also a seasoned Human Resource Professional, currently serving as the General Manager of a Human Resource solutions company and Project Coordinator for Boolz-I Writing Services. Tesiri is the author of Changes and Encounters with the Master.




Pamela Agboga (Judge)

She is a skilled content creator, editor, and writing coach who runs her own publishing and entertainment business, ChoWilson. She actively collaborates with other writers to cultivate a robust writing network that promotes both growth and profitability. She is the author of Weekends are for Loving.






Ann Esievoadje (Judge)

Ann is a freelance writer, content creator, and editor dedicated to promoting a love for reading and personal development among teenagers and adults. She has authored two books, The Quilt (fiction) and Being Mummy and Me (non-fiction). Ann is also the Creative Head at Pulchra Publishing, a columnist at Connect Nigeria’s Info-Portal, and the host of "Book Lovers Alley," a book review show on the Nimabox Live YouTube Channel. When she's not working, she enjoys reading, watching movies and anime, indulging in culinary programs, and swimming.


Farida Ladipo-Ajayi

She is the founder and Literacy Lead at The Book Worm Café, and also serves as a Community Manager promoting literacy at EduSpots. After a career as an engineer, she answered her true calling. Today, she is a dedicated children’s librarian, reading specialist, and advocate for every child's right to read. She has a deep love for literature and is passionate about nurturing a love for reading in children.
